A small quibble over a typo. I think you mean secessionist not successionist.

Indeed. For some reason that's always been a tricky one for me. Correction in progress...

Of course you're right. I'm just picturing those slogan slinging kids in the Peter Boghossian videos who seem to have no grasp of history or ability to reason. Those Ivy League ideologues want to be our future and have the money and status to have a lot of influence. On peak progressivism--well, they turned ME conservative, (and I was a "Young Socialist" in my youth), maybe there's hope after all.

Funny how you reflexively assume that those people could even understand the questions you raise. They are nothing but ignorant, buzzword spouting automata, drunk and rabid on the exhilaration of total destruction of their heretical enemies. I genuinely fear a true cultural revolution and I'm grateful that I'm no longer in the workforce, not on social media, and don't have children to be corrupted. I'm gonna apologize for voting for Biden, who seems to have always been a dull mediocrity even before he became senile. I guess I got red pilled a little too late. Thanks for your trenchant commentary!

There's an understandable tendency to assume that postmodern progressivism is the preserve of fools and idiots, but this is a mistake. No doubt foolishness and idiocy prevail on the progressive side, but there are people here and there who are neither fools nor idiots. They realize, for instance, that their progressive views are out of touch with the American mainstream. But by means of mental gymnastics of the kind described by Mr. Orwell and called by him doublethink, they suppress such unwelcome knowlege, keeping their thoughts pure.

That said, I think it's possible that we're approaching peak progressivism. Leftist ideas about politics or economics are one thing. But the truly bizarre nature of its transgender and so-called antiracist ideologies, and its radical relativism, make progressivism look more and more like some zany cult.

As always, thanks very much for reading.
