In 2020, many of you on the broad left—Democrats, progressives, much of the media—held your noses and rallied to the support of Joe Biden because the alternative was another four years of Donald Trump. And admittedly, you made out a plausible case for that clapped-out old political hack. He might be none too bright, he might be way too old, but at least he wasn’t a monster of evil. No, he was Middle Class Joe, Mr. Empathy, America’s Consoler-in-Chief, by comparison with Trump a normal guy. Though I didn’t buy your line, plenty of other people did. Mostly they were sick and tired of the Trumpian psychodrama. They wanted to reclaim the luxury of ignoring politics.
But as I’m sure you must realize by now, the real Joe Biden is anything but normal.
First, there’s his age, which is eighty—and it’s an old eighty. Physically and mentally, the President is in decline. Old age, said Charles de Gaulle, is a shipwreck, and in Biden’s case it’s likely that the stress of the office he occupies plays a major role in his accelerating deterioration. The signs were there all along and now they’ve become too obvious to overlook. For that reason alone, you need to shunt him aside.
Do you really believe that Karine Jean-Pierre has trouble keeping up with Joe Biden?
Second, there’s the fact that Joe Biden is a fool. He’s always been a fool—wrong about practically everything during his long, undistinguished career. In the Senate, where he served for decades, a fool may survive and even thrive. But the American presidency is pitiless in its exposure of every human failing. And as that good old American proverb has it, there’s no fool like an old fool. Joe Biden reinforces that lesson every time he opens his mouth.
After the Afghanistan debacle, how can you pretend that Biden knows what he’s doing?
Third, there’s the fact that Joe Biden is a pathological liar. One reason why I received the news of his candidacy with horror was my knowledge of that fact. Biden’s lies range from the trivial to the profound, from the laughable to the disgusting. You may recall that he often told how in 1972 his first wife and infant daughter were killed in a traffic accident by a drunk driver. This was a lie. The man in question, a trucker named Curtis C. Dunn, was exonerated in the investigation of the accident and was never charged with drunk driving or any other offense. Dunn passed away in 1999, and according to his family, he was haunted by the memory of that accident to the day of his death. More than once, they begged Joe Biden to stop slandering their loved one’s memory. He ignored them. Only after the story attracted the attention of a few journalists did Biden offer an apology to Dunn’s daughter. But to this day he has never publicly corrected the record.
What kind of man would tell a monstrous lie like that?
Fourth, there’s that fact that Joe Biden and his family are steeped in corruption. It’s now clear that he lied when he told the American people that he had no involvement in, nor any knowledge of, his son Hunter’s shady business dealings. In fact, he was deeply involved in an influence peddling scheme that funneled millions of dollars to members of his family through shell companies. And when Hunter Biden’s wayward laptop became a thing during the 2020 election, a Biden associate named Anthony Blinken spearheaded the effort that produced a letter signed by 51 former intelligence officials, claiming that the laptop was a Russian plant. Blinken is now the US Secretary of State. After Biden became president, Attorney General Merrick Garland engineered a Justice Department coverup designed to prevent the President’s role in his son’s misdeeds from becoming a matter of public record. But the laptop was the real deal, and the coverup failed. Joe Biden’s participation in Hunter Biden’s corrupt dealmaking is right there in front of your noses.
After all you’ve said about Trump’s corruption, how can you give Joe Biden a pass?
It's not as if the Democratic Party has no alternative to Joe Biden. I can think of several prominent Democrats who could step in, and who could defeat Trump. And think about this: It’s quite possible that if you stick with Biden, Trump could beat him. Biden’s a disaster waiting to happen. A serious fall, some horribly embarrassing public meltdown, a sudden crisis, further evidence of corruption—anything along those lines could upend American politics. Or how about if someone other than Trump becomes the Republican nominee? Are you confident that Biden would prevail over Chris Christie, for instance?
Naturally I’d prefer Joe Biden to lose in 2024—as long as the winner’s not Donald Trump. But for the good of the country, someone other than either of them must take over in January 2025. By then we will have had four years of Trump and four years of Biden, totaling eight years of insanity, mendacity, and senility. Enough already!
Ladies and gentlemen of the Left, you say you’re better than us rotten conservatives. Here’s your opportunity to prove it by doing the right thing.
Give Joe Biden the push.
The question I would be asking yourself and Jay if I was a Democratic Party strategist is under what circumstance you would vote for say Gavin Newsom over any Republican candidate other than Trump or Vivek. The answer is probably none or when hell freezes over. Thus there is really no reason for the Democratic party to do what you and Jay want because there is nothing in it for them.
How do i delete you?
