Mr. Gregg I’ve complimented you several times in the past and must do so again. Well done! You convey ideas and arguments with much clarity and impeccable logic. This one, yet again, ‘speaks’ to me and is compelling, though it won’t speak to those unable to listen. Alas basic human psychology causes Mangione or Palestinian sympathizers to override logic and facts. Frustrating!

And I must add - I particularly appreciate how clearly you make the point about how predictable the current situ in Gaza was. If Hamas did not see the predictable ‘war is hell’ carnage that would befall Gaza, then they are nowhere near as sophisticated as they get credit for… if they did see it coming then they are far more evil than they get credit for (if that is possible).

Andrew Sullivan is another Jew hating apologist making excuses for the barbarians that would gladly toss him from the roof of the tallest building. Thank you once again for your clarity in this exposure.

I just read the comment thread on Andrew Sullivan's post you linked to. Wow. I've long had the sense there's something off with him. This proves it beyond all doubt (although I don't think he was as screwed up in the past as he clearly is now). At first glance I actually thought it was a troll account impersonating him, but no, it's really Andrew Sullivan, the 197K followers would seem to indicate.

He responds to a least a half dozen or more comments, including those pointing out the antisemitic double-standards of his so-called argument with a sarcastic and nonsensical "Ding!" which indicates he thinks there's something funny or worth mocking about Israel's and the Jewish people's existential battle for survival. He cites Hamas numbers, the "Palestine Chronicle" and Haaretz, a notorious leftist/progressive Israeli rag in support. The assertions he puts forth are no more sophisticated or thoughtful than a chant you'd hear from a terrorist rag-wearing thug burning an Israeli flag in front of a mob of crazed tentifadans with their iPhones in New York City.

The vast majority of the commenters cogently point out over and over the hypocrisy and willful ignorance of his arguments, but Sullivan makes no substantive responses beyond his own feelings. He not only has no skin or investment in the conflict; it's clear he knows almost nothing about it. Not once in any of his sarcastic, asshole assertions of "Israeli atrocities" does he criticize or even mention Hamas, nor what Hamas and hundreds of other Palestinians did on October 7, when they started the war. He doesn't even mention the hostages--the ones murdered, tortured or both, much less those still being held.

I was always skeptical of the guy but I at least thought he had a rude, if inconsistent moral compass. He clearly doesn't. Thank you for linking to him in your essay--it's good to know the truth about someone, in their own words. I've lost all respect for him. What an ignorant, hateful buffoon Andrew Sullivan is.

Andrew Sullivan has always been, shall we say, erratic. One some issues, e.g. gender ideology, he’s good. On others…not so much. Some years ago, he went totally bonkers over a demented conspiracy theory revolving around the pregnancy of Sarah Palin’s daughter. Somehow, Sullivan managed to convince himself that it was Palin who’d really been pregnant, and that the daughter was covering for her. Sullivan’s lunatic rants about this left me wondering if he was having an adverse reaction to his meds.

Our modern society has developed the concept of narcissistic empathy, where common sense and logic are supplanted by the "cause of the day". Perpetrators of heinous crimes are given a pass because they are the supposed victims of oppression or extenuating circumstances.

Hence, Palestinians can slaughter their Israeli neighbors because they have been victimized for the last 60 years by the "system". Pro Hamas protestors can intimidate and threaten Jewish students because they are showing solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians.

An elite college-educated young man is excused for the cold-blooded murder of an insurance executive because of the actions and policies of the insurance industry as a whole.

We have become a society that now accepts atrocities if they are perpetrated by an underprivileged class and expect no level of responsibility or agency from those being cast as the "victims", while the true victims are either vilified or dismissed.
